Dear Tal,
Chag Sameach!(: Last week we were to read a humor book and I read Goofy Jokes and Giggles. The author is Charles Keller. I think he came up with cute and funny jokes that really made the reader laugh! I could tell by the cute picture on the front of the book that there is definately humorous jokes in there!
Here are some jokes that were hysterical and cute:
What do you call a person that only eats vegetables? A vegetarian.
Who is the fastest criminal on two wheels? A motor-psycho.
What do karate and judo experts eat before a match? Kung food.
Why couldn't the boxer start a fire? He lost all his matches.
What kind of hardware is used on the bottom of the sea? Clam-puters.
What famous filmmaker lived in a safe? Vault Disney.
What happened when the hotel owner died under mysterious circumstances? The police held an inn-quest.
How does a computer feel when it's overweight? Disk-gusted.
What is an ape's favorite kind of cookies? Chocolate chimp.
What's a Dracula's favorite kind of ice cream? Blooderscotch.
What do monsters order in a fast-food restaurants? French frights.
My personal opinions about the book is that it was very funny and a humorous book. While reading the book, there were some jokes that sounded dumb to me, but because there were many pictures to go along with the jokes, that was a helpful tool. I think the author came up with great jokes and my mood was definately laughable!
I really enjoyed reading this book and I truly recommend everyone who likes to laugh and have fun to read it. I mostly suggest this book to kids because they love to laugh and be wild. They won't be the only ones laughing, but other people too!(:
Taltul, that concludes my summary! Hoped you liked it and had a little laugh!
LOVE YOU TALTUL!<3

Reader's Journal #15
Dear Dana,
Last week I read a book called "Half Magic" by Edward Eager. I think it was a very adventurous and mysterious book that definatly keeps the reader focused and entertained in the story. I never read books by this author, but I so far like the type of books he writes and his written format.
The characters in the book are Jane(the oldest girl),Katherine,(the middle one), Martha(the third oldest), Mark(the younger and his the only boy in his family), Alison(the kids' mother), and Miss. Bick(the kids' babysitter.)
The setting of this book takes place mostly at the kids' house. It takes time during Summer vacation. The climate of this story is sunny and hot.
The plot of the book is about four siblings called Jane, Katherine, Martha, and Mark. Their mother works all day long so they have a babysitter called Miss Bick. All four kids really enjoy reading. They especially like reading those myths and adventurous story. One day on their way back home from the library, Jane found a coin on the floor. She was so stubborn that they didn't find the book they wanted from the library that she just wish their would be fire. A split second, the kids heard ambulance rushing down the street. They then realized that there was fire. Katherine, Martha, and Mark all looked at Jane in amazed shocked and didn't understand what just happened.
When the kids got home, they were ready to discuss what just occurred a few minutes ago. They had no explanation for this until they thought about the coin Jane had found and saw that it wasn't even a regular coin. It had funny pictures on it instead of of a head. The kids then discovered that the coin that they found was magic!
The conflict of the story is that the kids are so excited about the coin they found, that they are making to much dangerous wished that could one day affect their whole life.
The conflict resolution is that the kids now are trying to make less wishes and try to forget about the coin and live their lives like a regular kids do.
My opinions about this book is that it's very well-written and is very adventurous when it mentions the different journeys the kids go through because if their magic coin. I would definately like to read more books by the author because he knows how to entertain the reader so much that it makes them read more and more from the book.
My favorite part about this book was when Jane found the magic coin. That part interested me because right when this happened, I knew for sure that this coin is going to be magic from the title. I think that was a text feature that I noticed. I would love one day to find an object that is magic. That way I can wish anything I want like going to Israel, then I'll know how to take it from there.(-:
Well Dana, that concluded my summary. I hope you got a good understanding of what's the book about. Hoped you liked my blog Dana!! I love youuuuu!<3

Current Event #3
Title: Animal shelter’s behavior experts face life and death for animals
Author: John Owens
Source: The Miami Herald
The topic of the article is facing animal behavior.
:
The main idea of the article is Animal Shelter’s behavior experts face life and death decisions for animals. The main idea is stated in the title.
The author’s purpose for writing this article is to inform readers about how animal shelter owner specialists try different kind of methods and techniques to learn about an animal’s behavior and how to communicate with them without being attacked or possibly killed.
The author’s perspective in this article is objective because he states quotes that owners of animal control think about the kinds of animals they’re controlling and how they are sometimes to aggressive. The author also include dog’s point of view which is that humans also need to understand their culture and treat them kindly and not always think that the animal is always the one who does something wrong.
The pattern of organization of the article is cause and effect because in the article it shows the readers how control specialists do different kind of experiments on dogs to see their behavior when they try to play with the animal.(cause). As a result, owners figure out how to communicate with their animals and then know exactly how to warn a costumer when they adopt an animal.(effect)
The reason the author chose this pattern for the article is to show at the beginning about a dog and how its family moved away and didn’t take him with them, and slowly why that family gave up on their pet which was because of its aggressive behavior for them to handle.
The text features included in the article are quotes that different animal controller said about animals to their own beliefs about it, and bring up a real story about a dog named Yokie who was send to an adoption because of his tough reactions to show readers what the they are going to read about in the article.
This article is about (a summary in your own words) an animal adoption for different kinds of animals like cats and dogs and how they are being controlled by experts. The owners study those animals behavior and try out different methods to see their reactions to the playful activities they do with them.
The significance (importance) of this article is to teach families with an animal to know how to control their pet with the steps experts provided to the reader. Also to know how to respect the animal and treat it kindly so they won’t attack their owner or hurt them.
What I learned from this article is how to communicate with an animal in a friendly way without it hurting me or me hurting it. I also learned when to play with an animal and when to just leave it alone so no one gets harmed.
What I liked about this article is that the author mentioned a bunch of quotes experts said about an animal control. I liked that part because it wasn’t just a regular person teaching the reader how to handle an animal’s behavior, but it was an expert who actually did many observations and experiments which is why it’s 100% safe for a person to play with their pet and know how to control them correctly and know that if experts didn’t get hurt after doing the experiments many times to see for a fact the true behavior of that pet, they won’t get hurt either.
What I did not like about it is that there wasn’t any pictures of experts actually sitting down with the animal and testing their true reactions. I didn’t like that specific thing the author did because on most articles I read, there’s a lot of pictures showing the reader a visualized photo of what they are actually reading in the article. I wanted to see with my own eyes how experts manage to sit with the animal and observe their behavior.
Who should read this article and why: I think everyone should read this article even if they don’t have a pet so they will know step by step of how to communicate with an animal so if they have one, they will know how to treat it kindly and get used to their behavior, and even people who don’t have one can learn to do the same thing if they see a dog in the street and want to play with, learn the exact procedures experts include in this article.
This article reminds me of (text-to-self) because I used to have the sweetest dog ever when I was a little girl. I played with him a lot and he actually never tried to hurt me. He was like my security and I still remember him and will always consider him as family.
(text-to-text): I read a book called “Because of Winn- Dixie and it was about a girl who found the friendliest dog ever and named him Winn- Dixie. He was a wild dog, but very friendly. He was treated kindly and loved others, but when he saw a problem, he suddenly got aggressive and wanted to attack them. On top of all that, he was a very cute and sweet dog!
(text-to-world): A lot of people have aggressive pets, but kind too. Most of them get hurt by their animal and decide to give them up for adoption for their own safety. Some of them know how to handle their pet and have control over them like that experts do in the shelter. Not all animals have the same humor, and for that, we need to know how to control them so no one gets hurt.
| Word | Contest Clues | Meaning |
| 1. Advocacy | “So they need to have some sort of advocacy.” | I think it means to have control; management over someone or something. |
| 2. Controversial | It’s a demanding, controversial and sometimes emotionally draining job, but an essential one… | I think it means a slow process of something that has to be done emotionally. |
| 3. Extensively | “ So it is difficult when there’s an animal that we work with extensively who just won’t come around.” | I think it means to work with something or someone continuously or a long time now. |

Reader's Journal #14
Dear Orly,
Last week I read the BEST book I ever read in my entire life. It's called "Tuck Everlasting". The author is Natalie Babbitt. She wrote a phonemonenal book and I definately recommend you and everyone else to read it. I garuntee you guys will really enjoy this book and hopefully suggest it to other people to read it too!
The characters in the book are Winnie Foster, (the girl who gets kidnapped by the Tuck family), Mae Tuck, Angus Tuck, Jessie Tuck, Miles Tuck ( The family who kidnapped Winnie), the man in the yellow suit, (the man who met with Winnie in the begginning of the story and saw exactly where she got kidnapped and went to tell her parents), the constable ( the man who owns a jailhouse and went with the man in the yellow suit to search for Winnie), and finally, Winnie's mother, father, and grandmother who's names weren't mentioned it the book.
The setting of the story first takes place in Winnie's cottage, where Winnie and her family lives, in the wood, where Winnie there got kidnapped, in the Tuck family's farm, and in the jailhouse where Mae Tuck went to. The time of year is August and the climate is very sunny and hot.
The plot of this book is about a girl named Winnie Foster. She lived in a cottage with her mom, dad, and grandmother. Winnie didn't exactly like living with her family because they were so protective and always watched her, never giving her space. Winnie sat out of her house, against a fence, talking to a toad. She talked to him about how she wants to run away and she will prove it to him by running away to the woods.(Throughout the story, the toad became Winnie's "friend" because when ever she saw him, she talked to him.)
The next day, Winnie kept her promise to the toad and went to the woods. She started to walk around there, and suddently, a boy with wrinkled clothes who was very dirty, walked over to Winnie and they started to talk. The boy's name was Jessie Tuck. Winnie saw how Jessie drank the water from the ground and decided she also wants to drink because she was thirsty. Jessie told er not to drink from it because it was very dirty. She asked him how come he drank from it and he answered back that he already drank too much that it's not going to affect him. Than, surprsingly, Jessie's mother,Mae Tuck, showed up, and saw that Winnie saw the Spring water and she immediately kidnapped the girl.
When Mae, Jessie, and Miles Tuck arrived to their house with Winnie along with them, they introduced the girl to Angus Tuck, Jessie and Miles' father. They did that so Angus will know that she's the first person who knew about the Spring water. The family explained Winnie that the Spring water was liquid that once you drank it, you would be stuck at the age your currently are and live forever. The Tuck family by accident drank the water along time ago and didn't know it affected you, until they realized they were didn't grow or change at all.
The Tuck family treated Winnie like family. She really started to open up to them. Jessie and Miles really liked her too. Miles had a wife and a daughter but the wife ran away with the her girl because of the Spring Water that changed Miles. The dad and the mom are supposed to be 104 years old and the boys 87 years old.
The Tuck family were to bring Winnie back home as soon as they told her everything about the Spring Water. Before they even had a chance to do that, the man in the yellow suit saw where the family took Winnie and he also heard everything about the Spring water. He decided to go tell Winnie's family. He told Winnie's family that he will tell them where their daughter is but as a return, they would give him their wood. They had an agreement and the man in the yellow suit and a constable( a man who's like a police officer) went off to get Winnie back.
Both man road to the Tuck family's house by stealing their horse. The man in the yellow suit told the constable that he will go ahead to get the girl faster and they will met each other there. When finally the man in the yellow suit arrived at the kidnapper's house, he knocked on the door and went inside. He saw Winnie sitting there and knew he made it. He told the family that he knows everything about the Spring water and that he knew always knew about it from his grandmother when he was little.
The yellow suited man told the Tuck family that he will now take Winnie home. Mae didn't want him to take away just like that, but he didn't listen and grabbed the little girl with him. Mae was so upset that she took a shot gun and shot the man on it's back. She did it on time for the constable man to see her. The police man was more tough and took Winnie right with him. He also took Mae because he's going to put her in the Gallows.( where you get killed after you managed to kill a person).)
Winnie arrived home safely but was worried about Mae. She then went outside , laid against the fence and started to talk to her toad again. Right before she went back to her house. she saw Jessie. He told her that they figured a way to escape Mae. Winnie liked their plan and told them she will pretend to be Mae in case the constable man came to check on her. Their plan was to 12:00 at midnight. Jessie also gave Winnie a bottle of Spring water so she can use it when she's 17 so she and Jessie could get married. They both liked each other a lot and wanted to get married.
When it was midnight, Jessie waited outside for Winnie and when she came out, they went to the jail house and saw Angus and Miles waiting for them. Miles opened the window so Mae can escape and Winnie could replace her. When Winnie was inside and Mae was outside, Miles closed the window and the Tuck family ran away so they won't get caught. The next morning, the constable man showed at the room and saw the blanket on top of Winnie. He still didn't know it was her until she took the blanket off of her and he saw Winnie there instead of Mae.
Winnie was sent home at the moment the constable caught her and her parents were very disappointed in her, but were glad to see at the same time. Winnie saw her toad again and felt comfortable talking to him. Then Winnie spotted a dog next to the toad, wanting to eat it. Winnie screamed at the dog and told him not to eat her friend. She than went to her room and bought outside the water Jessie gave her. She poured the spring water at the toad and knew that now he could live in peace- FOREVER!
The ending of the story is that Winnie and her whole family died because their house burned down and there wasn't the woods anymore. The whole area was changed and knew buildings were built. Jessie and Winnie also didn't get married, but he and his family were still living their lives forever too!
The conflict of the story is that Mae went to the Gallows for killing the man in the yellow suit. She only killed him because she didn't want him to take Winnie right away from her and the rest of the family.
The conflict resolution is that The rest of the family and Winnie had a plan to save Mae which was to first go to the jail house and escape her and then put Winnie in there to pretend to be her. That was Winnie's idea to be in the jail instead of Mae. Unfortunanilty, Winnie was caught but Mae did escape safely with ther family and that part did succeed!
My opinions about the book is that it was an extrodinary story and I truly enjoyed reading it. I think the author wrote a successful book and if I could meet her, I would definately let her know that!
I would try to find more books by this author because I she wrote this book in a proper format and probably other books she published!
My favorite part about the book is that Angus, Miles, Jessie, and Winnie managed to get Mae out of jail and be brave enough to do that! I think Mae was lucky to actually have family who cares about her! I think Winnie did the bravest thing which was to pretend to be Mae in case the constable figured she escaped because that showed the Tuck family that Winnie truly cares about them and they are like family to her. I'm remarkably glad both the Tuck family and Winnie made it out safely from the jail house!:)
My least favorite part was when Winnie and her whole family died because their house burned down. I think that was very sad because I actually thought Jessie and Winnie are going to get married and will live together forever! I think Jessie was probably very upset, but will positively find himself another girl to spend their WHOLE lives together!:)
Orly, that concludes my summary! I know, it was very long because in order for my reader to understand what happened in the book, you needed to explain every detail that occurred! I hope you understood what happened and that you're interested to read this book yourself! I love you Orly!<3
