Reader's Journal #9

Dear Dore,
This week was a mystery and I read The 39 Clues: One False Note. The author is Gordon Korman. I didn't know that for each series there's going to be a different author. Well, the first book and the second book are great and they are so descriptive that I can actually travel through it vicariously. Let me tell you what happened in the book (even though you already know.)
The characters in the book are Amy, Dan, Nellie Gomez, Alistair Oh, Ian, Natalie, The Holts, Mr. McIntrye, and the man in black. Now if anyone wants to know about those characters, go to my Readers's Journal #8 and you will see it!
The setting takes place in Vienna, Austria and Venice, Italy where Amy, Dan and the rest of the competitors continue to find the 39 clues.
The plot of the book is about two kids named Amy and Dan. They have no parents and they are currently supposed to live with their aunt, but she's so mean and rude them. Their grandmother, Grace passed away and she's the one who set the challenge that was an option of taking 2 million dollars or take a challenge to lead you to be the most powerful member in your family. Basically, in the first book the competitors started in Paris where the first clue was lead too. Now all the competitors are at different speed and different places. Dan and Amy are now doing great and they are finding the clues pretty fast and they are working in a good teamwork. What they're doing now, is instead of other challengers stealing their clues like before, they are doing their best to take clues from other competitors because now the contest is getting harder and they think that this will the best thing that can keep them alive in the game. Wow, I'm really interested in reading the 3rd book! I heard good stuff is going to happen!:)
Again, there's no really a resolution until you read the whole entire series. I actually hope that there's going to be a happy ending because with all the things that are so far happening in the book, you don't really know what to expect at the end, probably unlikely surprises.
My personal opinion about the book is that it's a great mystery and you can actually imagine yourself in that book doing all the things the characters are doing. The author really knows how to write a neat, organized, and descriptive book. I really hope that one day when I get older I can write like the authors do with a rich vocabulary.
My favorite part of the book is when Dan and Amy are keep on finding clues because that means they are on their way to winning the contest. I also like how they are working a good teamwork, I know that will never work with my brother!
My least favorite part is that that the Social Services are still looking for Dan and Amy after their aunt couldn't find them in Boston and decided to call them. I don't like that part because Amy and Dan are such good kids and they don't deserve to be sent away to foster care being away from each other which is the only thing they will have if that event will happen!
Dore I hoped you understood my summary better than the book and I hoped that I made a good summary on top of all!:) Love you Dore and looking forward for reading your blog also!:) LOVE YOU!<3
Love,
Adi<3

Title: Will Steve Jobs’ final vendetta haunt Google?
Author: Michael Liedtke
Source: The Miami Heralds
The topic of the article is: The topic of this article is Google’s Android is stealing the creation of iPhone.
The main idea of the article is: The main idea of this article is Google’s Android is stealing Steve Jobs’ ideas of the iPhone and he’s doing everything he can to prevent that from happening. The main idea is stated.
The author’s purpose for writing this article is to: explain the fight between Android stealing  iPhone creations and how Steve Jobs was shocked that another company stole his ideas after the iPhone was popular for a long time and no one bothered to steal it.
The author’s perspective in this article is objective/subjective (biased) because it showed that Steve Jobs actually fought to save his creation from being stolen, rather than ignoring it. Also, it shows what could happen to companies that steal an invented item that someone made. If you do something wrong, you would always get caught!
The pattern of organization of the article is showing different kinds of ideas in each paragraphs and the reactions Steve Jobs is showing about Google’s Android stealing his iPhone ideas and making a similar device.

The reason the author chose this pattern for the article is to show how Apple was before Google’s Android came in the picture and decided to invent a similar device and how now it’s decreasing the population of the iPhone.
The text features included in the article are pictures that helps readers see the products Steve Jobs had created, how the paragraphs are organized to help readers understand important details about Goggle’s Android stealing iPhone features and the emotional thoughts and beliefs that Steve Jobs is showing to the readers.  It Also shows how Google’s Android is affecting Steve’s career.
This article is about (a summary in your own words) The article is mainly about Google’s Android stealing Steve Jobs iPhone creation and features. It shows Steve’s reactions and how he will not accept the fact of another company stealing his own made up ideas. After that unbelievable occurancy, Steve Jobs career is slowly dropping and costumers are not impressed with the iPhone anymore. At the end, Steve’s hard effort to make Android stop stealing his ideas didn’t succeed, and Android is still taking control over the iPhone features.
The significance (importance) of this article is to explain the problem that goes on in the world and how we don’t realize that it affects a lot of people that basically are the victims of those situations. He wanted to explain readers about a famous iPhone maker and the different problems that are occurring to him at this time.(Also to give readers the heads up that iPhone is having a little bit of difficulties)
What I learned from this article is that companies can be that mean to just steal an invention from a person and take all the credit. I also learned that if you actually take your time to fight for the rights and make sure that your career will be saved, will may not always succeed, but the thoughts of personally doing it will count.
What I liked about this article is that Steve Jobs actually thought: I will let no one steal my iPhone creations even if a serious fight will lead me to it. Most people I know will just stay quiet and will say ohh how much can that person know about my invention. Well I’ll tell you what, people know more than you think!

What I did not like about it is that Google’s Android didn’t even feel bad that they stole Steve’s creations about the iPhone and just ignored him when he talked to them and how he didn’t like the way they stole his ingenious idea.
Who should read this article and why: People that love all those “I” terms( iPhone, Ipad, etc.) should read this article because once they do, they will realize that their favorite technology company is decreasing and they will also be pretty amazed how their hero is doing all his might to make his fans happy with his work.
This article reminds me of (text-to-self)  because I also don’t give up and if someone steals my inventions, ideas, or whatever I did and it’s legally mine, I will do everything I can to make that person forget about stealing my work and even if it gets me into a huge fight, I will do it to make my fans and my career happy and successful!
(text-to-text) A book I read that is also about stealing information is the book The 39 Clues. Dan and Amy are working on a challenge and they’re competing with other people. When Dan and Amy always manage to find a clue, another competitor comes to steal the clue and takes the credit.
(text-to-world)  Companies all around the world are facing different kind of problems like copying inventions and are trying to fight with those people and convince them to stop it and that it’s not fair. Somehow Steve’s hard work and believe didn’t pay off, but if you believe you will ALWAYS achieve!
New vocabulary I learned:
Word
Context clues
Meaning
1. Hypocritical
Criticisms
The one that doesn’t actually posses.
     2.Unveiled
Release
Revealed to public.
     3.Derision
Across
Mockery.

Reader's Journal #8

Dear Gabby,
This week I read a mystery and the name of the book I read is called The 39 clues! Gabby I can just tell you that the 1st book in amazing and I just wanna keep reading the rest of the series! I know you're reading The 39 Clues too, so I can read your blog and get a great explanation on the 4th book!!!:)
The author is Rick Riordan and he really knows how to catch the reader's attention and actually make the book a fun and adventurous mystery!
Let me tell you a about the events in the book!!!!
The characters in the book are Amy, Dan, Grace, Nellie, Ian, Natalie, Uncle Alistair, the Holt family, Irina, the Starlings, William Mclntrye, Jonah Wizrad, and Aunt Beatrice.
Ok, those are a lot of characters so let me give a quick description about them. Amy and Dan are sibilings and they are on a mission to find the 39 clues to be the most powerful member in their family civilization. Grace is their grandmother who sadly passed away and she's the one who set the challenge which I will get to in the plot. Nellie is Dan and Amy's cousin and Beatrice is their aunt. Basically Ian, Natalie, Uncle Alistair, the Holt family, Irina, the Starlings, and Jonah Wizard are the enemies. They are trying to eliminate Dan and Amy because they are ahead in their challenge and they find clues very fast. Each of those people are evil and sneaky in their own way!
The setting takes place in Boston, which is Dan and Amy's hometown. It also takes place in Paris where the challengers start to find and search for clues!
The conflict of the story is that Dan and Amy are quick and focused about finding the challenge that was given and they are currently ahead of everyone. Now, the rest of the competators want to steal their information because they think that they have more hints because they're Grace's grandchildren and also because they keep on finding the clues and getting the idea of the mission.
The plot of the Book is about two sibilings named Amy and Dan. They have no parents because they died when they were young. They never knew how though and basically they don't know them at all! Grace, their grandmother was the only person who cared about them and loved them dearly. Dan and Amy are living with their Aunt Beatrice but she treats them terribly. They don't live with Grace because she's very sick and that's how she died. Her funeral was at church with a lot of people. Everybody there was a Cahill. (Dan and Amy's last name.) Even people they never met in their life, was a Cahill. That was a name that was passed on for centuries. At church William Mclntrye(Grace's lawyer) showed everybody a video Grace made before she passed away. It was about that challenge she had made up. The challenge was take to wither take 2 million dollars or a clue that will lead you to more clues to find a treasure and be the most Powerful Cahill in human civiilzation. Almost everybody took the money, but only Amy and Dan, Natalie and Ian, Uncle Alistair, Holt family, and the Starlings took the challenge. Irina was Natalie and Ian's aunt but it she didn't take the challenge, she just helped Ian and Natalie. Basically, what happens is all the competators head and discover the first clue that was given to them and their clue was about Benjamin Franklin and how he was part of the Cahill family. Like I said, the other challengers keep on stealing Dan and Amy's clues and messing with them!! So far, Dan and Amy are on their second clue but don't forget there's 39 clues in total!! I have to read the 2nd book to figure about the rest of the clues Dan and Amy found and what will happen later on!
I can't tell you what the resolution is because so far there isn't one because there's much more series and I need to read them all to know what will happen in the end!!!!
My favorite part of the book is that Dan and Amy are not giving up until they find all the 39 clues even though they are being spied on and manipulated. I would also keep on going because once I start something, I'm not going to back out until I finish my task!:)
My least favorite part is that the rest of the participates are stealing the clues Amy and Dan discovered and that they are messing with their chances of winning!! The point of this challenge is to figure the clues with your partner and have a little fun!!!!!! People can just be so evil and disgusting, especially when they are your relatives!
Gabby I hoped you liked my blog and I will definitely comment on yours!!!!!!!!! Love you Gabby and looking forward to reading your blog tomorrow!:)
Love,
Adi<3

Adi Binyamin's Reader's Journal #7

Dear Stav,
This week was a biography and I read Walt Disney Meet the Cartoonist.  The author is Carin T. Ford.
Walt Disney is the one who made up all the cartoon characters we know today! Very cool! I want to tell you all about him in case you don't know everything!
Walt Disney (Walter Elias Disney) was born December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois.. He was born to Elias and Flora Disney. Walt had three other sibilings. Their names were Raymond, Roy, and Ruth. Ruth was the youngest. Flora and Elias decided to move to Kansas City when Walt was four years old and live on a farm. They worked really hard on the farm all day. There were also times when Flora sat down with her kids and taught them how to read. Walt Disney really loved to draw. Even in school, he drew something instead of listening to the teacher. Now, it was obvious Walt was going to be an artist when he grows up!
When Walt was a teenager, the Disneys decided to move back to Chicago where Elias became a part-owner of a jelly factory. As Walt grew older, he decided to take art very seriously. He studied three nights a week and even take classes through mail! He drew cartoons and took photographs for his high school magazine.(That sounds like journalism to me!!) Walt then returned back home to Chicago after being in France for a year with the Red Cross. He didn't want to work with his dad anymore, he wanted to be an artist!!
Walt went back to Missouri, Kansas City and hoped to work for the Kansas City Star, but the newspaper didn't hire him. Walt then finally got a job which was drawing ads for a farm. The job lasted for six months. While working there, he found himself a buddy named Ubbe Iwerks. The two decided to start a business together and make animated pictures. They worked really hard together and after working for six months, they created a 7 minutes film called Red Riding Hood. Walt and Ubbe quit their jobs so they will have more time to make movies. They set a company and called it Laugh-O- Gram Films.
Walt and Ubbe quickly made more films: The Four musicians of Bremen, Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks, and the Three  Bears, Puss in Boots, and Cinderella. A New York company promised to pay them $11,000 for the cartoons! Wow, that's really impressive.:) In 1923, Walt decided to go to Hollywood, California where Roy lived. Walt hoped to become a movie director there but no one hired him for that job too.Walt then went back to work on his next cartoon, Alice's Wonderland.
In, 1924, Walt and Roy started a company called Disney Brothers Studio. They made Alice movies for the next two years. Walt hired other artists including his old pal, Ubbe. In 1925, Walt fell in love with a woman named Lillian Bounds and had two daughters named Sharon and Diane. By 1926, the studio moved into a larger space. It was then called Walt Disney Studios.
Walt created tons of cartoons and here comes a special cartoon we see at 8:00 to 10:00am named Mickey Mouse! Mickey Mouse became the first cartoon to be in color! Millions of people saw Mickey and loved it!! Walt added Mickey's friends and named them Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto! After making over 100 cartoon charcters, Walt had another sagacious idea, to build a big family park and call it Disneyland!!! In 1955, Disney opened in Anaheim, California. There were ponds, lakes, and 22 rides for adults and kids! Millions of people came to that amusement park!
After a while, Walt had another brilliant idea, build another family park in Orlando, Florida. It would have a city of the future called EPCOT. Sadly, Walt died from lung cancer on December 15, 1966. The park opened in 1971. Walt didn't have a chance to see the new park open, but a lot of his fans did!
Walt was a confident person who believed dreams can come true!!! Today, a lot of people love his cartoons and the two amusement parks! Today, we are also all familiar with the show title, Disney. That was named after Walt!:)
Stav, I hoped you enjoyed my summary and I miss you so much!! Hope you are having fun in Israel!:)

                                                                            Love,

Adi Binyamin's Reader's Journal #6

Dear Sharon,
This week was a biography and I read Justin Bieber First Step 2 Forever: My story. I really didn't need to read the book to know that this boy is AMAZING! In case you don't know everything about him, I'll guide you through it!:)
This book is about Justin Bieber a canadian boy that was born March 1, 1994. His talent was playing sports especially hockey. Hockey is not his only talent, but I'll tell you about that in a little more. Justin's parents, Pattie and Jeremy Bieber got a divorce when Justin was 10 months old. As he grew up, he understood how hard it was for him and his mom, but they got through it. When he was about 12, Justin's way to make money was to go out on the sidewalk and sing with his guitar. He made 200$ one day!! Wow, that's a great accomplishment. Although it's not enough to make things better his mom and him decided to go to Disney for a vacation! Even though Justin's dad was away from him, he still supported Justin as much as everybody else did. Speaking of family members, Justin is more connected to his grandpa than anybody else. He always helps Justin, gives him advice, and is there for Justin in good or bad moments! Justin also loves his manager Scooter Brauns and his producers and workers. Justin also got to hang out with one of his heroes, Usher. That was a great experience for him! Believe it or not, Justin was found on YouTube. His singing was the key that gave him the oppurtunity to be famous! Scooter found him and liked him so that meant that Justin was going to be a musician! From a young age, Justin already played many instruments. He played the drums, guitar, piano, and trumpet. He taught himself how to play all those instruments, very impressive! Drums, piano, and guitar are also 3 instruments  I like and want to learn to play. Sorry, back on topic. Justin  one day went to a singing contest and won 2nd place, he was disappointed but all the other kids had vocal lessons so that made sense! Today Justin is a talented, amazing, HOT, sensative, and a funny 17 year old teenager who is adored by many girls!!!!!! Even famous people like Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Chris Brown, Kim Kardashian and much more love him and his music! Justin even has albums, books written about him, clocks, perfumes, stickers, and etc. Way to go Justin!!!!!! DREAMS CAN COME TRUE!<3
Sharon I hope now you love Justin even more!LOL!:) I wanna tell you more about him, but it will never end! You can find out more information by reading this book!!!:)

                                                                                 Love,

RJ Adi Binyamin #5

Dear Orly,
This week I read a folktale called Tricks of the Tales. The authors are John and Caitlin Matthews. I wanna write you about one story that interest me. The story is called A home of One's Own. I wanna tell you what happened in that story.
The characters are Sungura, Leopard, Sungura's wife and their childeren. Sungura and Leopard were two animals who were in Africa and didn't have a home. Sungura was strong but small and wanted to have a family. Leopard was greedy and bad-tempered.
The setting took place in Africa and on the highest hill where Leopard and Sungura build their house.
The weather was nice and the climate was sunny.
The plot of the story is about two animals in Africa that didn't have a place to leave. They were Sungura and Leopard. Sungura wanted to raise a beautiful family and Leopard was greedy and mean. One day Sungura saw a high hill and decided to build his house there. Without knowing, Leopard also built his house there. Each time they added a piece to complete the house, they didn't know who did that. They believed it was their ancestors. One morning, they both woke up and saw one another. They both argued about who was the first one to arrive to build the house. They just agreed to built a wall between where each one is sleeping so that they have their own space. With that plan, Sungura got a wife, married her, and had children. Leopard was annoyed that the babies were always crying and wanting food so he wanted to eat one of the babies. Before he did that, Sungura's wife already had a plan and it worked. She got a baboon to capture Leopard. Sungura told his kids that they don't have to cry for food anymore because Leopard will be their meal. Leopard got scared and ran away. Sungura and his wife than lived happily ever after with their children!
The conflict in the story was that Leopard got annoyed that Sungura's children were always crying for food so he decided to eat one baby. That is so MEAN!!!!
The resolution is that Sungura's wife had a plan which was to get a baboon to catch Leopard and eat him for dinner. He got so scared and ran away that Sungura and his family finally had their own house to live in!!
I liked that story because it showed the reader that greedy and selfish people don't get a good out come in the end. That's what happened to Leopard for wanting to eat Sungura's babies. Sungura was a good person that got his wish finally granted- Raise a beautiful Family.:)
My favorite part was when Sungura had a wife and kids. That was very sweet and he waited for that to happen a long time.He was a confident person so that's why his wish came true very quickly.
My least favorite part is when Leopard wanted to eat Sungura's babies. That is just mean, wrong, and disgusting. I'm glad that big monster ran away and didn't come back!!
Hope you liked it Orly!!!! LOVE YOU!<3

                                                             Love,
