Dear Dana,
Last week I read a book called "Half Magic" by Edward Eager. I think it was a very adventurous and mysterious book that definatly keeps the reader focused and entertained in the story. I never read books by this author, but I so far like the type of books he writes and his written format.
The characters in the book are Jane(the oldest girl),Katherine,(the middle one), Martha(the third oldest), Mark(the younger and his the only boy in his family), Alison(the kids' mother), and Miss. Bick(the kids' babysitter.)
The setting of this book takes place mostly at the kids' house. It takes time during Summer vacation. The climate of this story is sunny and hot.
The plot of the book is about four siblings called Jane, Katherine, Martha, and Mark. Their mother works all day long so they have a babysitter called Miss Bick. All four kids really enjoy reading. They especially like reading those myths and adventurous story. One day on their way back home from the library, Jane found a coin on the floor. She was so stubborn that they didn't find the book they wanted from the library that she just wish their would be fire. A split second, the kids heard ambulance rushing down the street. They then realized that there was fire. Katherine, Martha, and Mark all looked at Jane in amazed shocked and didn't understand what just happened.
When the kids got home, they were ready to discuss what just occurred a few minutes ago. They had no explanation for this until they thought about the coin Jane had found and saw that it wasn't even a regular coin. It had funny pictures on it instead of of a head. The kids then discovered that the coin that they found was magic!
The conflict of the story is that the kids are so excited about the coin they found, that they are making to much dangerous wished that could one day affect their whole life.
The conflict resolution is that the kids now are trying to make less wishes and try to forget about the coin and live their lives like a regular kids do.
My opinions about this book is that it's very well-written and is very adventurous when it mentions the different journeys the kids go through because if their magic coin. I would definately like to read more books by the author because he knows how to entertain the reader so much that it makes them read more and more from the book.
My favorite part about this book was when Jane found the magic coin. That part interested me because right when this happened, I knew for sure that this coin is going to be magic from the title. I think that was a text feature that I noticed. I would love one day to find an object that is magic. That way I can wish anything I want like going to Israel, then I'll know how to take it from there.(-:

Dear Dana,
ReplyDeleteHaha, you're welcome!<3
Thank you for liking my blog, I appreciate that!(-:
The kids' mother works at an office. It didn't say her full name's job.
I would rate this book 3.5 because it has some phrases that we're kind of confusing and some pats didn't make sense at all.
I chose to read this book because Mrs. Zrihen suggested it for mr. I think it was a good book, but not a perfect one.
Dana, thank you for commeting on my blog, on my way to do yours!<2
I love you Dana!(;
Love,

Dear Adi,
ReplyDeleteI loved who you included your opinions in the RJ! Here are my questions: 1.What does Jane being stubborn have to do with the fact that they couldn't find the book they were looking for? 2.Why did Jane wish that there was a fire? 3.What were some ways of which they took advantage of the coin? I suggest that next time you include more in your plot. ILY!
sincerely,
Stav Sharoni
Dear Adi,
ReplyDeleteI love how you organized your RJ! What was your least favorite part? What would you do if you found a magic coin? What would you wish for? Explain a little bit more about the characters next time, other than that your RJ was spectaculer. Keep up the good work.
Your friend, Jared
Dear Stav,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the generous complemmet, I really appreciate that.(:
She was stubborn because she really wanted to read that book very badly and then found out that it not in the library. That made her very furious.
Jane wished there was fire because she was mad at the moment and felt that saying that she wished there would be fire, would make her feel better.
Some advantages the kids took of the coin was going to ancient happening of kingdoms, queens, kings, knights and all those made up fairy stories. That was very dangerous because they could have gotten sruck in those places if something went wrong with the coin.
Sure, next time I'll be more specific and detailed for the plot. I appreciate your suggestion.
I love you tooo Stavy and thank you for commenting on my blog.
Love,

Dear Jared,
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked my blog. I truly appreciate that.
My least favorite part was when Jane wished there would be fire. I didn't like that part because it came true and she her wish could have hurt someone, but hopefully it only burned down a playground.
If I had a magic coin, I would wish for a lot of things, but the first one would be to go to Israel and be with my family and friends again. Then, I could continue my wishes from there.
I like your suggestion and on my next blog. I'll try to detail the characters as my as I can so my readers will get to know them better.
Thank you Jared for commenting on my blog.(-:
Sincerely,
Adi<3
