Adi Binyamin's Reader's Journal #1

Dear Dore,
Last week I read this book called as long as were together by Judy Blume.
I wanna tell you about the events in the book.
The characters are Rachel, Stephanie, and Allison.Rachel and Stephanie were best friends first since 2nd grade. In their neighborhood Stephanie met Allison and introduced her to Rachel. Rachel at first didn't like Allison because she seemed strange. She also felt that Allison is now Stephanie's best friend and she got jealous. Throughout the story they all hung out together so Rachel became less worried and liked Allison better. They all became best friends.
The setting took place mostly at school and at Stephanie's house. It took time at day. Evening was mentioned sometimes.. The weather was nice and sunny with no rain or storms. The climate was hot and it was cold and snowing.
The plot is about two best friends named Rachel and Stephanie. Stephanie moved into Rachel's neighborhood and they hung out everyday. One day Stephanie met a girl named Allison. They became really good friends. Rachel didn't like Allison that much and she didn't like the way she was replaced by her. Then Rachel and Stephanie had a fight. Everyday they would hang out with a different friend. They didn't talk to each other for weeks. One afternoon they walked to their houses and started talking. They talked about their problems and forgave each other. They were all friends again.
The conflict was that Stephanie made a new friend and Rachel was jealous. Allison and Stephanie hung out everyday. They started to do more things together rather than doing it with Rachel.  Rachel had other things on her mind than doing fun but she did feel left out most of the times.
The resolution was after Rachel and Stephanie had their fight, they decided to talk to each other and say how they both truly feel. They both understood one another and became friends again. All three of them hung out together all the time and no one was left out alone.
My personal opinions about the book are that it's really interesting about how the characters react and change through out the story and also the book is about my favorite topic which is friendship. I love to read a book about friendships because I can relate to it in real life. I think some people can learn from these kind of books about true friendship and who you can really trust. I have a lot of best friends and I love them all.
My favorite part of the book is when Rachel and Stephanie made up. I liked that part because I also have fights with my friends and we also talk it out and make up. I also liked it because they apologized and were both mature enough to admit that they did something wrong.
My least favorite part was when Rachel spilled out that Stephanie's parents are gonna get a divorce. I disliked that part because it was really mean and it wasn't her business. It was really and rude. I would have never done what Rachel did, even if I'm mad at friend. A secret is a secret.
Well, that's all I can write. Hope you liked it and got the idea what the book is about.

                                                                               Love,
                                                                                    Adi Binyamin.

  1. Dear Adi,
This book seems very interesting to me!! I loved the way how Stephanie and Rachel made up!This reminds me of my book how Leo and Amanda made up after a fight!:)I would definatly want to read this book!I 100% agree with you of the part you dislike the most.It was wrong of Rachel to slip out the secret Stephanie had.It wasn't very nice.
Did you enjoy your book? What inspired you to read it?The character I like the most, based on what you wrote is Stephanie! Whats yours? I think Rachel and Stephanie made a good decision to be friends! Friends are always there for eachother and I think that lead to the theme of the story!(Am I right)?I hope you enjoyed the book!
    Sincerely,
    Dore Dadon

  3. Dear Adi,
I think your book looks interesting and you wrote about it well. It is pretty common for two friends to be close and then for one to have a hard time letting someone else in. They would feel like the third person is a third wheel.
It is important that two friends talk about their feelings and work things out. Its nice when everyone can just get along and maybe the new friend can become a new best firend.

  4. Dear Dore,
I'm glad you liked my book and how I summarized it.
I did enjoy this book because it was interesting and you could actually learn what friendship is about and who you could really trust.
What inspired me to read this book is the author which is Judy Blume and the moral of the book which is friendship. I read quite a few books of Judy Blume so when I saw that one I took it, also it was about friendship the kind of books I like to read.
My favorite character is Allison because she was the kind of friend that you could trust, who's smart, and a little quiet and shy.I'm kind of like her!:P
And yes you're right, the theme of the book is friendship. Reading the title of the book, already gives you an idea about the moral of the book.:)
Thank you Dore for all these questions and having an interest of my book.

    Love Adi<3

  5. Dear Julio,
I did write all those paragraphs with specific details and I'm glad you noticed.:)
There wasn't really any "problems" they had, it was the secrets and jealousy that was going on. Stephanie had the huge secret but was shy to tell her friends.
Stephanie's parents wanted to get a divorce and Stephanie decided she wasn't gonna tell anyone until Rachel did when she got mad at Stephanie. Rachel heard Stephanie's secret from her parents.
Allison was okay, she didn't do anything. At the end everything turned out fine and Stephanie and Rachel were friends, Allison was happy they were.
Thank you for the question and I hope I answered it the way you asked it.

    Sincerely,
    Adi Binyamin

  6. Dear Madison,
    My book is interesting.
I agree, it is hard to have a girl join you and your best friend and suddenly you're not part of the friendship anymore. That's how Rachel felt.
I also think Rachel should have went to talk to Stephanie and tell her how she feels.
Now, thank you for your comments but I was hoping for some questions!:(
It's okay, don't worry about it.
I hope you liked my book!(:

    Sincerely,
    Adi Binyamin

  9. Dear Adi,
I really like your book. It sounds like a great book and very interesting. You put so much detail in to the book, that I felt like I just finished reading the book. From the summary my favorite part is when the 2 friends made up at the end. That scene reminds me of the book gossip girl. It reminds me of it because there were 3 best friends. But 2 of the 3 were like so close. Anyways the 3rd girl told one of the girls that the other one said a lie about her crush so she believed her and seperated away from the other girl but at the end the 2 girls were the best friends and the other one was their enemy.
Based on the summary, I have a few important questions. Why did you pick this book? What was your favorite part. And did this book inspire you in any way? How? I think the main idea of this book is friends, what do you think?

    Sincerely your pal,
    Mia Melnizki

  10. Dear Mia,
I'm glad you are interested in my book.
My book is similiar to some movies and I noticed you used to compare my story to the movie Gossip Girl.(:
    Now I'll answer your questions:
I picked this book because I read quite a few books of Judy Blume, and when I saw that one, I observed it and decided to read it.
I believe I have stated my favorite part on my blog so if you want to know, go back and check!!
What inspired me to read the book is the theme. I LOVE books about friendships and when I saw that book and read what it's going to be about, that's when I took it and knew from that moment that I would love it!!!(:
And I also think that the main idea of the book is friendship. You don't even have to look for it, the title already gives you the answer!!!:D
Thank you Mia for those great questions!

    Love,
    Adi <3
