Dear Sharon,
Last week we had a choice to read which ever book we wanted and I chose to read The 39 Clues: The Sword Thief, written by Peter Lerangis. This book was very mysterious and it put the reader into a big drop out scene. It had many twists and turns, and some old pals that decided to show up in the book. I think the author continued this story in a well-written form and new how to focus on the main events that are occurred in the second series and make it more entertaining by what he thinks should happen next in the story.
The characters in the book are Dan and Amy,(Two siblings who are searching for the 39 clues), Nellie Gomez, (Dan and Amy's au pair that guides them in any needs while traveling around the world to find the rest of the clues.), Alistair Oh (Dan and Amy's uncle who used to be their enemy, but now they are in a group together to find the 39 clues.). and Ian, Natalie, and the Holt family are the enemies who try to sabatoge Amy and Dan's chance of finding all of the clues first.
The setting now takes place in Japan. Dan and Amy figured out that swords they found in Italy, belonged to a great warrior called Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
The plot of the story continues with Amy and Dan Cahill, still on the mission to find the 39 clues. They are now on their way to Japan to learn more about the swords they found and recognized that their cousins, Ian and Natalie stole their tickets from them and left their au pair, Nellie on the plane alone. Amy and Dan try to tell the pilot but it was already to late when the plane was on its way already. Both siblings were left alone in the airport until they saw their uncle, Alstair Oh. He offered to help Amy and Dan get to Japan as long as he could work with them to find the 2nd clue.
When they finally arrived in Japan, they begin to search for the facts about Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Once they were all set, they started to search for the clue. Unfortunately, the Holts trapped them all in the train station and then just ran away. Amy, Dan. and Alistair tried to escape and almost got hit by a train. THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE!
Out of their luck, they also got found there by Ian and Natalie. Their evil cousins wanted to join Dan and Amy too. Both the of them knew that had to agree to that plan because Ian and Natalie had Nellie. They also gave Dan and Amy a coin that will help them while continuing the mission. The search continued with Amy, Dan, Alstair, Ian, and Natalie to Korea where the next clue lead too. When they arrived there, they saw a big mountain, and a slot hole where they knew that there goes the coin their cousins handed to them. They put the coin in and landed in a a cave. They saw so much objects laying around there that they didn't know which one best fit their clue.
Finally, after passing many objects, the group spotted something shiny. They found GOLD! They realized that their 3rd clue was to be gold. The team knew they were rich!! While trying to get out the cave, Dan and Amy didn't see Ian and Natalie and knew that they betrayed them. Alistair, Dan, Amy tried to find the exit, but found out they were stuck. Than, they spotted fuses and let Alistair lit it up. Once he did, the whole cave exploded and Dan and Amy were out safely. Sadly, Uncle Alistair didn't make it and died!
Dan and Amy went to Alistair house because that's the only place they could stay in. Dan wanted to go shower in Alistair's shower and before he did that, he saw something that caught his eye. He observed Alistair's white glove he wore in the cave before it exploded. Dan went quickly and showed it to Amy! They both couldn't believe what's going on and immediately knew that Alistair is alive!!
The conflict of the story is that Alistair, Dan, and Amy got stuck in the cave after Ian and Natalie left them behind there.
The conflict resolution is that they found fuses and Alistair lit them up which caused the whole cave to explode and set them free. That was a clever way to find a solution and I'm glad nothing happened to Dan and Amy!:)
My opinions about the book is that it was a very mysterious which is what kept me reading so much. I think that there were so many actions that happened that I think someone should make a movie out of it!!! I would love to see the characters on TV doing everything they in the book, just literally in front of the reader's face. I personally think that what happened so far really got me interested that I have to read the rest of the series AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!:)
My favorite part about the book was when Ian and Amy kissed. I liked that part because it was very sweet and it certainly grabbed my eye. I felt like I'm reading a romance book instead of an action-mystery book. When I got to that part, I totally forgot that they were enemies, I just imagined them in my head as a couple. I think that was a cute part and maybe in the next series Dan and Natalie will kiss!!:P
My least favorite part about the book was when Alistair, Ian and Natalie betrayed Dan and Amy. I was so surprised and disappointed to read that scene because it really looked like they were going to help Amy and Dan and work with them not against them. I think that Dan and Amy also learned not to trust NO ONE next time and continue their search together with their brains!
Well Sharoni, that concludes my summary about the book!!! I hoped you liked my blog and understood what happened! I LOVE YOU SHARON!!<3

Dear Adi,
ReplyDeleteI really liked your enriched vocabulary choice and the cool phrases you included in your blog! Your summary was soo descriptive, ITS UNBELIEVABLE!!
I am also reading the series and they are GREAT so far! This 3rd book, is actually my favorite one soo far! It was filled with detail and was very informative!
Some questions I have for you are:
How did you react when you heard that Alistair is still alive?
Which book did you like the most from the series so far?
If you could write a different ending for this story, what would it be?
I suggest that for the summary you just get to the point instead of writing soo much! Hahha, but its still awesome!!
Great Job!!:)
Love,
Dore Dadon(:<3
Dear Adi,
ReplyDeleteI like how you explained your favorite and least favorite part. They were very descriptive. Well here are my three questions:
-Is there a character you can relate to the most? Why?
-Who was your favorite character? Why?
-Are you planning on reading the rest of the series?
My only advice is to give a little back round about what happened on the previous books for people who have not yet read the series.
Love,
Miriam<3
Dear Adi,
ReplyDeleteI love your RJ!
Some questions:
How can you relate to this book?
Why did you choose this book?
How many books did you read already?
Awesome job!!!
Love,
Dana
Dear Dore,
ReplyDeleteThank you for noticing my high vocabulary choice! I appreciate that!:)
And yes, the 3rd book is great and I hope the 4th book is going to be interesting too.
When I heard that Alistair is alive, at first it was kind of surprising because when the cave exploded, it sounded like if someone got trapped there, they would never make it and apperantly Alistair did. Tell you the truth, I knew that something is wrong and that Alistair has this plan to betray Dan and Amy through the way he was acting in the book.
All the series that I read so far were great and they are so different from each other because in each book, there's something different happening and new characters are joining so that's why some books are confusing. I think non of the books were complicated and I love them all so far!
I honestly wouldn't want to change the ending of the book because it's good that the ending is shocking and it has some twists that the reader didn't expect to happen because that's what keeps the other series more interesting and keeps the reader entertained too!:)
I'll take your suggestion to mind and on my next blog I'll get to the point quicker so my reader won't be frustrated!:)
LOVE YOU!<3

Adi<3
Dear Miriam,
ReplyDeleteThank you for liking my least and favorite part! I also think I explain my answer for those in a descriptive format!
I can mostly relate to Amy because she's very smart, she has a brother, and she also controls her brother just like I do to Itay even though I'm younger than him!
My favorite character are Dan and Amy because they are basically the good people in the book and they remind me of Itay and I and how we can sometimes argue and sometimes get along with one another.
Yes, I'm planning to read the rest of the series because I really want to know the clues the competitors find, what kind of places are they going to find the rest of the clues in, and most importantly, who will win the mission and find all of THE 39 CLUES!:)
On my next blog that I will write about the 39 clues, I will do a recap on the series so my readers wills stay on topic and not be confused!:)
THANK YOU MIRIAM AND I LOVE YOU!<3

Dear Dana,
ReplyDeleteThank you for liking my RJ! I appreciate that!:)
I can relate to this book because one of the characters are brother and sister like Itay and I. We can also work together nicely and also argue a bit.
I chose to read this book because it was free choice and I read the first and second series already that I had to also read the third one and hopefully the whole series!!:)
So far I read the 3 books of The 39 Clues, but I'm going to try to read all of them.;D
Thank you Dana, I LOVE YOUU!:)
